Steam VR Early Access

SteamVR Early Access

Replace your controller with your hands, using StretchSense Studio Gloves

Virtual and extended reality gloves that are compatible with Open VR, the Steam VR framework. This provides a no learning curve solution to precise control in VR.

Behind the scenes we’ve been developing tools for VR gaming and simulation. Using the stretchable sensors of the Studio Glove, we can reliably emulate controller functionality with hand gestures – bringing an unprecedented immersive quality to most VR games in your Steam library.

For the StretchSense SteamVR app to be the best it can be, we need the input of the community – including you. As a result, we are excited to announce the rollout of our Steam VR app functionality to the public through our early access program coming in August.

So, what does the StretchSense SteamVR app do? It allows users to enjoy hand-based VR interaction by using gestures to mimic Valve Index Controller button pushes, using the StretchSense Studio Glove. To take part in the program, all you need is a PCVR setup and a pair of Studio Gloves. We are offering a discount from the normal price of $795 to $549 when you signup to be part of the program.

This is not going to be one of those never-ending early access programs—when we work together, we will be transparent at every step of the way. We commit to making regular updates and improvements. The early access rollout will be broken up into these phases:

Phase 1: Private Early Access

Basic, functional software without all the quality of life improvements. - Invite only -

Phase 2: Open Early Access

Incorporate feedback from phase one, and expanding user base to improve overall UX.

Phase 3: Final Polish and 1.0 Launch

Additional UX improvements, and final polish pass prior to full launch!

About The Program

There are a couple key points that we want to make as we enter the first phase of our rollout plan. By joining the program and using the provided discount, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • The StretchSense Steam VR app features are in development and are not yet complete. If you are not excited to try the feature in its current state, it may be better to wait until the final release currently slated for later this Summer.
  • StretchSense gloves are a hand mocap solution, they don’t provide a tracking solution. You will need to provide your own tracking system, for example, Tundra or Vive trackers, mocopi, Slime etc.
  • Every element of the software is subject to change as we hear feedback and continue to iterate. That includes workflows, pre-built gesture definitions, and general user-experience.
  • You agree to actively contribute feedback in good faith via either the forms provided in app, the discord channel, or directly to our Community Manager, Chris Mudd (chris.mudd@stretchsense.com).
  • Be honest and don’t hold back. If you have notes – tell us. There are no bad ideas or feedback so brutal that we can’t address it.
  • Not to distribute the software outside of the early access program community.

If you’re interested in participating please fill out the form below with your details and we will be in touch with more information on the setup process and glove discount code.  By submitting this form you are agreeing to the terms stated above.
