Hand Engine

Hand Engine software

Make the most of your MoCap Pro gloves

Hand Engine is purpose-built software that provides an interface between StretchSense MoCap Pro gloves and the animation software of your choice. Connect, configure and calibrate our gloves using high fidelity, real-time hand solver. Our hand solver has something for all animation and motion capture studios.

Pose Detection Mode

Outputs perfect hand pose keyframes in sync with the actors body motion with no noise and no peaks.

Preselect only the hand poses you want to see, and drastically reduce post-production time by only crafting the transitions between those poses.

Quick to set up

Download, install and capture hand motion data within minutes

Software integration

Use our solution with Unity, MotionBuilder, Unreal Engine, Maya and Xsens MVN and Vicon. New integrations coming!

Hit exact poses during a shoot

Design your poses ahead of a shoot, or upload your own Pose Library. Then customize them directly in Hand Engine.

Premium support

Introductory webinars, online support and technicians to help you get started and help you out whenever you need them.

Hybrid Mode

What if you have a character that has a set of key poses you want to really hit regardless of the physical activity you are engaged in (Pose Detection), but also want smooth, natural movement for everything in between (Blend)?

This is what Hybrid Mode allows you to achieve. You can now choose whether a pose you have calibrated is for Pose Detection Mode, Blend Mode or both.

The best part though is that you can toggle between each mode in post-production with the click of a button.

All of the raw information from the hand motion capture session is recorded in Hand Engine, enabling you to effortlessly reprocess a session through a new or manipulated calibration profile, or swap modes without needing to go back to and re-shoot.

FBX Export

Easily export your hand mocap data to any software application that imports an FBX file, including Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, Blender, Houdini, MotionBuilder and more...

Network input stream

Connect two machines running Hand Engine across a network. This allows you to capture data from the glove in one location, and process it in another, extending the range data can be sent.

Express Calibration

Industry-leading hand motion capture calibration in seconds. Still a preview feature, Express Calibration is a game-changer for motion capture shoots where time is precious.

“Fix it in Pre”

Add new poses or refine existing poses as you go to bring art direction in at the very start of your project rather than waiting to “do it in post”. Tools like the new Hybrid Mode feature allows for the capture of smooth continuous hand motion then hit reliable, stable poses in sync with your performer when you need it.

Blend Mode

Uses your calibration poses as landmarks in a continuous motion space and interpolates/blends between poses to give you continuous, natural hand animations.

Additionally, Blend Mode requires unambiguous hand poses, which tend to be at the extremes of range of motion of fingers, e.g. a flat paddle hand or a clenched fist or maximum finger spread. While these are excellent for defining the boundaries of your range of motion, rarely do you want to output one of the specific calibration poses exactly.

Stream to multiple platforms

We are constantly adding new integrations to Hand Engine. Right now you can stream live mocap data to:
MotionBuilder
Unity3D
Unreal Engine
Maya
Xsens MVN

With Vicon timecode integration, it is easy to sync MoCap Pro glove data with body data from a Vicon tracking system.
