Stretch sensors are lightweight, soft and flexible, making them well suited for use on the human body. Integrating stretch sensors into form-fitting clothes allows us the ability to visualize and record human body movement, enabling new kinds of smart clothing.

WHAT IS A SILICONE STRETCH SENSOR?

Silicone Stretch Sensors are like smart rubber bands that can easily be embedded into clothing or devices. When attached correctly to a soft body of material — such as clothing or a person’s body — they provide precise information about how that object or person’s body is moving.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A stretch sensor is essentially a flexible capacitor. As it stretches two important dimensions change — its thickness decreases while its surface area increases. This results in a change in capacitance that can then be measured through an applied voltage. Our sensors can be made in various sizes, elasticities and sensitivities, depending on your desired application.
